India chase series victory

Pakistan reached lunch on the final day of the second Test against India 37 for one - requiring a further 308 runs to seal an unlikely victory.

Zaheer Khan took a return catch to dismiss Pakistan opener Yasir Hameed for 14 to hand India an early wicket in the seventh over of the innings as the hosts look to seal the series after setting the tourists an unlikely target of 354 to win following an earlier declaration.

India began the day 141 for two and after MS Dhoni (37) and Sourav Ganguly (46) were both bowled by Shoaib Akhtar, Rahul Dravid remained unbeaten on eight when the declaration came.

The tourists declared their second innings on 184 for four after adding 43 runs in 6.4 overs in 50 minutes on Tuesday morning.

Dhoni and Ganguly brought up their 50-run third wicket partnership in 77 balls before both were bowled by Shoaib Akhtar, whose two second innings wickets cost 46 runs off just over 12 overs.

Ganguly reached 6000 runs in 98 Test matches despite being denied another home ground fifty.

Pakistan, with 81 overs to level the three Test series, began confidently as Kamran Akmal and Hameed took on Anil Kumble and Khan.

But after Hameed drove a slower ball from Khan straight back to him in the seventh over, Akmal (14) and Salman Butt (eight) eased through to lunch with the last 12 overs of the session yielded only nine runs.
