India take series to decider

India sneaked a thrilling two-wicket victory to level the NatWest Series at 3-3 in Wednesday's incident-packed match at the Brit Oval.

England were unable to defend a total of 316 for six, India getting home with two balls to spare on a flat pitch which had also yielded a maiden hundred for Owais Shah (107 not out) and five sixes in a row from Dimitri Mascarenhas in the final over of the hosts' innings.

Robin Uthappa (47no) struck successive fours in the last over from Stuart Broad to get the tourists over the line and set up a decider in the last fixture of the seven-match series at Lord's on Saturday.

Sachin Tendulkar (94) and Sourav Ganguly (53) put their team on course with an opening stand of 150 in only 23 overs - and although it appeared England might prevail as wickets started to fall, Uthappa kept his nerve.

England's innings was eventful, to say the least.

Captain Paul Collingwood's controversial dismissal for a single was one of three run-outs and had to share the attention with Shah's century, Luke Wright's blistering debut 50 - and Mascarenhas' sixes from each of the final five balls off Yuvraj Singh.
