Injury blow for Deacon

Bradford scrum-half Paul Deacon has become the second player to withdraw from Great Britain's train-on squad due to injury.

The 28-year-old Bulls captain, whose last appearance for his country was two years ago, has failed to recover from the hamstring problem that forced him to miss Bradford's last three matches of the season.

His absence is likely to guarantee a start in the number seven role for Leeds scrum-half Rob Burrow in the first Test against New Zealand on October 27.

Huddersfield centre or stand-off Kevin Brown pulled out of the squad last week in order to have groin surgery.
