It's a family affair for Hamilton
06 January 2007
Davidson Hamilton is flying in from the Caribbean island of Grenada to see Lewis in action in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The 22-year-old McLaren star, who has a 14-point lead over team-mate Fernando Alonso in the drivers' standings, said: "He was at a karting race years and years ago, but he's never been to a grand prix, so he's flying over to watch. He's coming over to meet the family, and it's just convenient it is at the same time as this grand prix."
Lewis will be flying the British flag on Sunday, with a near sell-out crowd hoping he can become the first home winner since David Coulthard in 2000.
Hamilton is aware of the expectations on his shoulders, and of the demands on his time as sponsors are clamouring for a few precious moments.
Hamilton fulfilled three commercial obligations on Wednesday, and another on Thursday morning before press interviews at the circuit.
"This is definitely the most hectic week for me," he added.
"It's good, all part of the experience, just as long as it's not every week then it won't be too bad."
