Jenkins set to announce key selection

Gareth Jenkins will reveal the most important team selection of his 18-month career as Wales coach on Thursday.

Wales face Australia at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday in a clash which will decide their World Cup destiny. A victory for Wales would almost certainly see them finish top of Pool B and book a quarter-final clash with struggling England rather than the dangerous South Africans.

"It's going to have a clear effect on not only qualification for the quarter-finals but the quarter-final game itself," said Jenkins. "We would love to top the group and we realise beating Australia on Saturday will do that."

Wales boast an impressive record against the Wallabies in recent times, having beaten them at the Millennium Stadium in 2005 and drawing 29-29 against them last November.

Jenkins believes Australia have improved since then.

"One thing that we are aware of is that they are a good team, an improved team. I think their performances in the Tri-Nations had a lot of good quality and content," said Jenkins.

"We spent a good day on Tuesday realising how important our efficiency is going to be in this game.

"We expect Australia to play like they have been playing and we don't expect any surprises. They play a good mix in their game and they are scoring more tries than anybody else in world rugby at the moment. We're aware of that."
