Jones plays down Hook rivalry

Stephen Jones may be set to replace James Hook as Wales fly-half for Saturday's crunch World Cup clash with Australia but he insisted: "We are all in this together".

Wales will confirm their team selection for the pivotal Pool B game when they return to Cardiff on Thursday but Jones appears to have been rewarded for his match-winning performance coming off the bench against Canada last weekend.

Jones said: "Whether it's James or myself playing, we are in this collectively from a team point of view and whoever is playing will hopefully do us proud."

"It is quite mad," added Jones.

"Sometimes we try to compare or we say things if things don't go somebody's way, but the fact remains James is a very good rugby player.

"I felt sorry James when he came off against Canada but it happens. As a player, you have those experiences during the course of your career.

"James is an awesome player. That's the fact of the matter. He is a great talent and a great player.

"There's always a debate in Welsh rugby and especially about the outside-half position. There's been a debate there since day one. That's how it goes."
