Kaboul confirms Spurs link
23 January 2007
The highly rated 21-year-old could seal the move to Spurs, for a fee believed to be in the region of 12million euros (£8.2m), after claiming he is ready for a new challenge.
"I want a change - I have come to an age where I want to progress and see something else," he said on French sports radio station RMC-Infos on Tuesday. "The English championship really interests me. I want to play in this league. Tottenham are a very good club, who want to do something."
Kaboul, the captain of the France Under-21 team, added: "Nothing has been done yet but we are talking about a contract for four or five years."
Kaboul, who has been tipped to go on and play for his national team at senior level, has been linked with Spurs for a while.
He has also reportedly attracted the attention of fellow Premiership club Portsmouth.
Auxerre's failure to land European football for next season could also be a factor in his decision to quit the club.
Spurs will play in the UEFA Cup next term.
Kaboul claims the switch could be sealed following the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season this Saturday.
"This should happen after our final Ligue 1 match, against Valenciennes," he said.
