Keegan: No Milner sale
16 January 2008
Argentina star Coloccini has finally completed his move to St James' Park for an undisclosed fee - although the club have revealed it is more than the £9million they paid Leeds for Jonathan Woodgate - but equally pleasing for the fans is the news that highly-rated winger Milner is not heading to Aston Villa.
Keegan said: "The last player we will want to sell is James Milner, and I am talking about the owner (Mike Ashley) and myself, and I am sure he will not be leaving St James' Park."
Instead, the United chief is in talks to let other players leave the north east, with Abdoulaye Faye close to a move to top-flight newcomers Stoke.
"We also have Shola Ameobi talking to Ipswich," added Keegan. "After that there will be nobody else going out, and we want one or two more coming in.
"And what we have to do is to make sure we get better players coming in than those who are going out, and this will take some doing because they are quality players who are going out.
"As far as our signings have been concerned, the quantity is low but the quality is very high."
