Kiyota and Park share lead

Little-known Japanese golfer Taichiro Kiyota grabbed a share of the lead alongside Australia's Unho Park as the second round of the Johnnie Walker Classic got under way on Friday in Delhi.

The 27-year-old from Osaka, who only has two top-10 finishes on the Asian Tour to his name, opened with a four-under-par 68 at the DLF Golf and Country Club and maintained his momentum by firing five birdies through his first 15 holes to improve to nine under.

Starting on the back nine, Kiyota birdied the 15th and 16th to reach six under at the turn before picking up further strokes on the second, fourth and sixth to move to the top of the leaderboard.

He was joined by Park, who made five birdies through 10 holes after also starting the day on four under.

The Singapore-based Australian picked up shots at the second, sixth, seventh, ninth and 10th on the 7,156-yard Arnold Palmer-designed layout.

Kiyota and Park hold a three-stroke advantage over Graeme Storm, world number five Adam Scott and the Indian trio of Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa and Rahil Gangjee, who were all tied on six under.

Storm began the day on two under after shooting a bogey-free 70 in his opening round and the man from Hartlepool parred his first five holes before catching fire with four birdies at his next six holes to put him in contention for a second European Tour win.

Singh, who began on four under, briefly held the lead after moving to seven under through seven holes but the local favourite saw his charge halted when he bogeyed the 17th for the second day in a row.

Phillip Archer and Chris Rodgers are a further stroke adrift on five under after solid starts to their second rounds. Both players began on level par but Archer fired three birdies and an eagle through his first 10 holes while Rodgers sank five birdies in his opening nine.

Overnight leaders Shamim Khan of India and Argentinian Daniel Vancsik, who shot five-under-par 67s in their opening rounds, tee off in the afternoon.
