KP slips up for England

Kevin Pietersen was the notable batting failure in England's warm-up contest against a Sri Lanka Cricket Board President's XI.

England's premier batsman was surprised by an effort ball from Nuwan Kulasekera which looped off the shoulder of the bat to gully, while captain Michael Vaughan was the only other dismissal as he hit 38 in his first innings of the winter as England replied to a mammoth 500 for five declared.

Pietersen contributed only four but his top-six colleagues all spent valuable time in the middle - Alastair Cook, Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood retired to give others a chance - as England reached tea on 241.
