Lampard - who will skipper the Blues again on Sunday against Birmingham in the absence of John Terry - firmly believes mental strength will play its part in the title race this season.
"We want to win the league back this year - we need that belief and desire," Lampard declared. "We need to remind ourselves every day we want the league back. When you lift the cups, that is what you remember."
Lampard added: "I do not think we are going to start with a survival instinct, even though it will possibly not be our strongest team for the first few games.
"We will still have enough about us to play attractive football to win, and if we have to call upon a bit of fighting spirit, then we will do that."
England captain Terry and Didier Drogba are both sidelined with knee problems. The influential centre-half should be back within a month, while Ivory Coast striker Drogba is expected to be out for around another week or so.
Lampard is confident the rest of the squad can pull together and ensure a decent start to the new season.
"They are not major injuries, but we have got the squad to cover," said the England midfielder. "We have to be confident we can cope without them, and know what has to be done."
Lampard was in central London on Thursday to promote Frank TV on the Orange mobile phone network.
The England midfielder, 29, has yet to agree a new deal with Chelsea. While Lampard maintains he wants to play out his career at Stamford Bridge, he intends to delay further talks until next summer.
