Late crash ruins Poulter's day

Lawrie famously came from 10 shots behind with a round to play to lift the Claret Jug in 1999, beating Jean Van de Velde and Justin Leonard in a play-off, and Poulter also began the day 10 shots off the pace - but crucially had 36 holes to catch leader Sergio Garcia.
With four holes to play Poulter was five under for his round and five shots off the pace, only to finish double bogey-bogey-bogey-par for a 70 and three-over-par total.
"My lunch is going to taste pretty sour," admitted Poulter. "I'm pretty frustrated to move through the field as quickly as I did and drop back, knowing it's going to be horrific for the guys this afternoon."
The 31-year-old had picked up five birdies before crashing to a double bogey on the 15th after finding a gorse bush with his second shot.
Bogeys on the 16th and 17th - where he found the Barry Burn - completed a costly finish.
"I was thinking it was Muirfield all over again," added Poulter, referring to the Open in 2002 when the early starters were able to post a good score before driving wind and rain blew the leaders off course - Tiger Woods crashing to an 81.
"I thought it was a great opportunity to shoot low. I missed a few chances and at five under was thinking I could have been eight or nine under.
"I made one bad swing on 15 - I've struggled with that drive all week - and then my nine-iron got caught in the rough and went straight left into a bush.
"It was a snowball effect and I dropped four shots, it was a real kick in the teeth."
