Latics receive FA Charge

The Football Association have charged Wigan with "failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion" during last weekend's defeat at Newcastle.

In particular, the charge relates to the behaviour of the Latics players toward referee Steve Bennett on two separate occasions in the Barclays Premier League clash at St James' Park.

Bennett sent off Wigan's Kevin Kilbane for two bookable offences early in the second half, but the FA have not confirmed whether the reaction of Chris Hutchings' players to that decision is one of the incidents under investigation.

The club have until September 19 to respond to the charge.
