League stars await verdict

England stand-off Leon Pryce will discover on Thursday if his burgeoning career is to be put on hold, while his former Bradford team-mate Stuart Reardon is facing an uncertain future both on and off the field.

Both men will return to Bradford's domestic violence court for sentencing after last month admitting charges of assault, with a jail sentence among the options.

St Helens have continued to stand by Pryce, who was on Wednesday named in coach Mick Potter's 19-man squad for Friday's engage Super League game against Bradford, but Reardon has found himself once more without a club. Reardon was on Wednesday night released by Hull - just 11 days after joining them from Warrington - after he failed a medical.

The 27-year-old utility back has not played since rupturing his Achilles tendon in Warrington's Challenge Cup defeat by St Helens last May.

He was released by the Wolves on April 9 and snapped up by Hull in the face of competition from other clubs just two days later, signing a contract to the end of the season.

Reardon was expected to make his comeback in the next few weeks and was actually included in Hull's initial 19-man squad for their Easter Monday game at St Helens.

However, following a thorough medical, including ultrasound and MRI scans, Hull have decided to part company with Reardon without him having played a game for them.

Hull chief executive James Rule said: "We obviously feel sorry for Stuart. However, we cannot retain a player after he has failed our rigorous medical examination.

"We wish Stuart well in his future career."
