Leeds claim final play-off spot

A fourth-minute goal by Dougie Freedman clinched 10-man Leeds' place in the Coca-Cola League One play-offs - but they had to withstand late Yeovil pressure which almost brought an equaliser from Aidan Downes.

Freedman's goal was a typical close-range effort from the experienced striker. A right wing cross found Bradley Johnson unmarked at the far post, whose effort was parried by keeper Steve Mildenhall, before Freedman was on hand to finish.

The only blot on the night for the Yorkshire side was a red card after 64 minutes when Alan Sheehan brought down Lee Peltier with a two-footed tackle.

Yeovil's best chance in the first half was a close-range header from Marvin Williams, superbly saved by goalkeeper Casper Ankergren, but they had fewer attacking ideas than Leeds.

Then, three minutes from time, Downes' fierce drive was turned around the post by Ankergren.
