Leeds coy on Wise Newcastle link

The Barclays Premier League club are understood to have made an approach to Leeds for the 41-year-old who they want to join Kevin Keegan's backroom staff.
A Leeds spokesman said: "We don't comment on speculation. We have an important game at Southend on Tuesday night and Dennis is preparing his team for that."
It has been reported on Tyneside that Newcastle officials are confident of luring Wise to St James' Park if they can agree a compensation fee with Leeds.
But Wise is a close friend of Leeds chairman Ken Bates, who will fight tooth and nail to keep the former Chelsea midfielder at Elland Road.
Bates has already lost former assistant manager Gus Poyet to Tottenham earlier in the season and would see Wise's departure as a hammer blow to his plans to bounce straight back to the Coca-Cola Championship.
The former Chelsea chairman convinced Wise he was the right man to lead the fallen Yorkshire giants back to the top flight in October 2006.
Wise and Poyet could not halt Leeds' slide into Coca-Cola League One at the end of last season, but made a dream start to the current campaign.
Leeds were hit by a 15-point deduction by the Football League for breaking competition rules on administration, but won their first five matches and are challenging for automatic promotion.
Club officials insist Wise will be in charge for Tuesday night's clash at Roots Hall, where a win could lift them up to second in the table.
