Liang leads Swail

China's Liang Wenbo reproduced the form which accounted for former champion Ken Doherty to take a big lead in his second-round clash with Joe Swail at the 888.com World Championship on Sunday.

Liang beat Doherty 10-5 in the first round at the Crucible and proved that was no fluke as he opened up a 6-2 lead over Northern Ireland's Swail.

On the other table, Stuart Bingham returned from the interval to reel off three frames in a row with breaks of 98, 53 and 49 before Joe Perry recorded a break of 65 to ensure he only trailed 5-3.

Bingham had earlier twice taken the lead only to be pegged back by Perry, who knocked out former champion Graeme Dott in the first round.

The evening session saw Ronnie O'Sullivan and Mark Williams and Stephen Maguire and Neil Robertson resume their second-round matches, O'Sullivan leading 5-3 and Maguire an incredible 8-0 ahead.

Williams took the opening frame with a break of 64 and led 59-13 in the next only to let O'Sullivan in for a brilliant 48 clearance despite several balls being in difficult positions.

A break of 76 saw Williams reduce the gap to a single frame once more but O'Sullivan fired in a break of 102 to lead 7-5 at the mid-session interval.

It was much slower going on the other table, where Maguire had the chance to win with a session to spare.

The Scot took the opening frame 50-43 after 39 minutes but Robertson received possibly the biggest cheer of the week with a break of 93 to finally get his first frame on the board.
