Maddy maintains winning start

Darren Maddy's impressive start to life as Warwickshire captain continued as the Bears wrapped up victory over Worcestershire in little more than an hour-and-a-half on the fourth morning at New Road.

Warwickshire had been on top for the majority of the match after recovering from three for two on the opening day to post 610 for six declared.

The hosts followed on after a first-innings reply of 288 and seven wickets in the morning session sealed an innings-and-13-run defeat for Worcestershire, who capitulated to 209 all out.

Graeme Hick failed to add to his overnight 66 and when he was dismissed by the impressive Naqqash Tahir (three for 31) the back of the Worcestershire knock was broken.

Dale Steyn also impressed, taking five for 49 to hasten the end of the match, leaving Maddy's record as three wins from three in all forms of the game.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Yorkshire are closing in on victory against Hampshire after taking two wickets in the first session at the Rose Bowl. Hampshire resumed on 16 for one but are still 324 runs adrift of their target with seven wickets in hand at the break.

James Bruce made just four before being clean bowled by former Australia paceman Jason Gillespie, who picked up his second scalp of the innings, while John Crawley (50) fell moments after celebrating his half-century at the unlikely hands of Younis Khan.

Jimmy Adams is set on 51 not out and will need to put in a long stint at the crease to rescue a draw for the hosts.
