The Lancashire seamer, 25, will have a double hernia operation on Tuesday and is unlikely to play again for five to six weeks.
That means he will miss the third and fourth npower Tests against the Caribbean team, along with two Twenty20 internationals and the three-match one-day series which concludes on July 7.
Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson said: "He has been having some discomfort since returning from the World Cup. Our medical staff decided we needed to find out the cause, and he will be having the operation next week.
"England are aware of the situation. It will take five to six weeks before we can expect to have him back on a cricket field."
