Master class from Johnson

American Zach Johnson won his first major with a two-stroke victory in the Masters at Augusta.

On a close final day the 31-year-old, playing in only his third Masters, carded a final-round 69 for a one-over-par aggregate of 289, surviving a late wobble when he bogeyed the 17th.

However, a good chip at the last salvaged par and ensured the Ryder Cup player held off the challenge of four-time Masters champion Tiger Woods (72) and South Africans Retief Goosen (69) and Rory Sabbatini (69).

Englishman Justin Rose was just a shot off the lead until he had a double-bogey six at the 17th, eventually returning a 73 for a four-over-par total of 292 and a share of fifth place.
