The 46-year-old former New Zealand coach signed a two-year contract to succeed Tony Smith in 2007 when the Australian was appointed Great Britain boss.

McClennan, who is currently in Jacksonville, Florida, preparing for the forthcoming season, is thrilled with the new deal and said: "I am really pleased to have extended my stay in Leeds. We have a fantastic set-up here and I am proud to be part of it."

McClennan sent out an ominous warning to Leeds' rivals as the Rhinos seek a third successive Super League title.

"I know everyone is doing their best to make the team a success," he added.

"I will do the best I can for everyone connected with the club to achieve success in the coming years."

The Rhinos finish off their week-long training camp on Saturday with a challenge game against Super League newcomers Salford City Reds at Hodges Stadium, Jacksonville.

McClennan led Leeds to victory in the Carnegie World Club Challenge and Super League Grand Final - the Rhinos' second straight triumph - in his first season.
