McCullum named as specialist batsman

New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum has been selected as a specialist batsman for the third and final npower Test against England at Trent Bridge.

McCullum has been suffering with a back strain for several weeks but was thought to have overcome the problem to take his place with the gloves.

However, the tourists have made a late change to their line-up, with Peter Fulton making way for reserve wicketkeeper Gareth Hopkins.

Debutant Hopkins will take the gloves, while McCullum has been promoted up the order from number five to number three.

England, who will be unchanged for the fifth successive Test, lost the toss and were asked to bat first.
