McGoldrick signs new deal

Australian utility back Ryan McGoldrick has become the second Castleford player in as many days to sign a new four-year contract.

While the Tigers deliberate over the future of Dwain Chambers - with a decision expected some time this week - they have moved to secure the services of the 27-year-old McGoldrick until the end of 2012.

The news comes just 24 hours after 18-year-old loose forward Joe Westerman ended speculation over his future by signing a new four-year deal with Super League's bottom club.

McGoldrick, who represented the Wallabies at rugby union in the World Sevens, joined Castleford from Wests Tigers in 2006 and stayed with the club when they were relegated from Super League at the end of his first season.

"Ryan has proved himself to be a tremendous capture for this club, and we believe this to be a very significant deal for the Tigers," said chief executive Richard Wright.

"His form this season has been out of the top drawer and he wants to rank alongside our best signings from overseas. If he hasn't already, we feel that he will achieve that.

"He shares the ambitious plans we have and he deserves to be rewarded for loyalty, having turned down offers in his time with us from other clubs, both here and in Australia, especially after our relegation in 2006."
