McSheffrey makes Forest switch

Birmingham winger Gary McSheffrey has joined Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season.

McSheffrey returned to first-team action for Birmingham against Sheffield United on Sunday having been sidelined with tendinitis in his knee since mid-September.

However manager Alex McLeish is keen to see the 26-year-old get some much-needed regular match action and believes McSheffrey would benefit from a spell with Birmingham's Coca-Cola Championship rivals.

Blues have inserted an instant recall option into the agreement which becomes active after midnight on April 4 should they require his services again during the campaign.

McSheffrey joined Birmingham from Coventry for £4million in August 2006 and fired 16 goals to help the club gain promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

But he struggled to find his form in the top flight and has been hit by injury this term.
