Megson denies player unrest

Gary Megson has denied suggestions that Bolton's fight against relegation from the Barclays Premier League is being undermined by unrest among his own players.

Ivan Campo and Abdoulaye Meite have both publicly shown petulance towards the manager and some senior players have brought Senegal striker El-Hadji Diouf's commitment into question.

But Megson said: "There is no dissent - it's a terrific dressing room with a great squad of players."

He added: "Something happened at Manchester United that I've never seen before and wouldn't want to see again.

"Abdoulaye Meite just said he didn't want to go out for the second half. I was surprised and disappointed, but we've dealt with it as a club.

"The latest one was Ivan getting a bit stroppy when he was brought off, but he's done that a couple of times.

"What disappointed me more was that after the (Manchester) City game I wasn't talking about how well we had played, but we ended up talking about Ivan and his walk up the tunnel.

"Once you start focusing on things that don't particularly matter, then you've got a huge problem.

"There is a perception from outside the club as to what is going on in the inside - but it's just not there. The players are fine."

Meite, meanwhile, has turned down a loan move to Coca-Cola Championship promotion-chasers Ipswich, but he would appear to have no future at the Reebok Stadium.
