Milan agree Ronaldinho move 'in principle'

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed the club have reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona striker Ronaldinho.

The Brazil international has had a troubled season in the Primera Liga and has fallen out of favour with coach Frank Rijkaard following a loss of form.

And Galliani has now hinted a summer transfer to the San Siro has moved a step closer following a meeting with the player's agent and brother, Roberto de Assis. Galliani told Gazzetta Dello Sport: "There is an agreement in principle with the player. Now we must reach an agreement with Barcelona."

A knee injury appears to have brought a premature end to the Brazilian's current campaign, prompting suggestions he has played his last match for Barca.

Milan have repeatedly been linked with a move for the 28-year-old with president Silvio Berlusconi admitting his club were interested in acquiring the star.

De Assis also confirmed the player was in talks with Milan but insisted the move was not a done deal.

He said: "Basically, Ronaldinho and Milan have come to an agreement. Milan are a great team, Ronaldinho was impressed with his first contact with them.

"The important thing is that he will be happy. When will a deal be finalised? You have to be patient."

According to Gazzetta, Ronaldinho will sign for the Rossoneri until 2012.
