Milan target Agger

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has admitted the Rossoneri are considering a bid for Liverpool's Daniel Agger in the January transfer window.

Galliani told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport that the 23-year-old defender was on a list of "three or four" players which the Italian giants are considering as they look to replace ageing veterans Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta.

Agger has been linked with a move to Milan after reports suggested contract talks between the Reds and the player had reached an impasse. "In January we will sign a defender, there's no doubt about it," Galliani said.

He added: "We have a list of three or four players who could be useful in defence and Agger is one of them. In January we'll sign one of them.

"We've followed Agger and his situation at Liverpool before now, we know about the problems between the player and the club over a new contract."

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has already denied any rift between the club and Agger.

Last week Benitez said: "Agger is very happy here. He is pleased and happy to stay here. He knows he has not been playing at the same level he achieved last season, but I am still pleased with him."
