Mixed messages over Hatton fight

While the rival camps sent out mixed messages, the Filipino boxer continued to taunt the Englishman via his website.
The proposed May 2 clash between pound-for-pound king Pacquiao and 140lb champion Hatton looked to have been scuppered when the former reportedly refused to sign up by Wednesday's original deadline.
There appeared to have been a disagreement over how the purse would be split, the Filipino supposedly unhappy at the proposed 50-50 split with Hatton.
Yet Pacquiao's promoters Top Rank declared on Friday the fight was back on, and various news outlets were reporting Hatton would after all meet Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on the pre-agreed date.
"Hatton-Pacquiao is back on the table, and they are working on sealing the agreement," a Top Rank spokesman told PA Sport.
Hatton's promoters Golden Boy Promotions, however, struck a different tone.
Asked if the fight was back on, Golden Boy's media relations director Ramiro Gonzalez said: "Right now, no - everything is still the same as two days ago.
"We don't have any more information right now. The things we know are that they pulled out of the fight, and he [Pacquiao] didn't sign the contract. That's what everybody knows.
"From there to right now, there is nothing more we can say. Richard Schaefer (Golden Boy Promotions chief executive) is concentrating on our very big fight here in Los Angeles on Saturday night between Shane Mosley and Antonio Margarito - and we are all very focused on that."
