Mogg has his eyes on the prize

Adam Mogg insists there will be no room for sentiment when the Catalans Dragons come up against their popular former coach Mick Potter in Sunday's Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round tie at St Helens.

It will be the first meeting between Potter and the Dragons since the Australian ended his successful three-year stint in the south of France to take up the reins at the cup holders last November.

"I really enjoyed my time under Mick and improved as a player," said Mogg. "He taught me a lot and I thanked him for that before he left. We got on pretty well. We'll catch up with him after the game."

Both clubs will go into the tie on the back of consecutive defeats and Mogg admits it may not be a good time to take on the holders, who have won their last 16 cup ties.

"It's a long time since they lost three (in a row) so that just adds to the occasion for us," he said. "We'll have to be up for it."

The Dragons have conceded 14 tries in back-to-back defeats by Hull KR and Leeds and Mogg admits: "We need to improve to have any chance this week. We've got to focus on ourselves and go there with a positive attitude."

Mogg is one of nine survivors from the team that lost 30-8 to Saints in the 2007 Challenge Cup final at Wembley and he admits that experience has whetted the appetite.

"Exactly right," he said. "You'd love to be able to play at Wembley every week in front of 80,000.

"We've just got to take the next game and show up better than we did last Sunday."
