Moore of the same at Villa
06 January 2007
Moore's deal could have ended next summer but, by taking up the option, he now will remain with Villa until at least the summer of 2009.
A Villa spokesman confirmed: "The club has today taken up an option to extend Luke Moore's contract for a further season. His current contract was scheduled to end in July 2008 but the striker's deal has now been extended until July 2009."
The Academy product made his debut for Villa in February 2004 and has scored 15 goals in 93 games.
The England Under-21 player has been on target twice in eight games this season but has had to be content with a substitute's role in recent games after the return from injury of John Carew.
Villa manager Martin O'Neill is also hoping to thrash out the future of defensive duo Olof Mellberg and Martin Laursen whose contracts also end in the summer.
Goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is also out of contract at the end of the 2007-2008 campaign but the former Villa number one has slipped down the pecking order behind Scott Carson and Stuart Taylor.
