The tourists had hoped an influx of new players would change their fortunes in a winter where they are yet to register victory in an international match, but instead were humiliated by being dismissed inside their 20 overs.

England were only able to hit 11 fours in their 115-ball innings and left West Indies chasing a modest target to claim a timely victory before the start of the five-match one-day series in Georgetown next Friday.

Steven Davies and Ravi Bopara got off to a flying start and raced to a 25-run stand in the fourth over, but the early momentum built up by the tourists was quickly halted by the loss of the Essex all-rounder, who had his middle stump knocked back by Lionel Baker as he stepped away to leg to hit over extra cover.

Debutant Davies continued to set the pace and pulled Dwayne Bravo, returned to the West Indies line-up after several months out recovering from an ankle operation, for another boundary in his first over. But just as he had his sights set on eclipsing his career best Twenty20 score of 30, Davies moved across his stumps and got a thin edge onto his leg stump from a full-length ball from Bravo.

Having lost two quick wickets, England's hopes of setting a competitive total depended on Kevin Pietersen remaining at the crease. But the tourists had cause for complaint, however, at the manner of Pietersen's demise in the next over when local umpire Norman Malcolm upheld an appeal from left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn which was clearly missing leg stump.

Pietersen stomped off the field and England's demise continued with Benn tempting Owais Shah into hitting over long on only to pick Kieron Pollard on the boundary.

Paul Collingwood fell in similar circumstances two overs later, this time attempting to hit Daren Sammy over mid-wicket and allowing Lendl Simmons to run in around 10 yards and take a well-judged catch.

England's demise was completed with two run-outs in three overs with Dimitri Mascarenhas and captain Andrew Strauss both falling attempting quick singles.
