Morgan proud of battling Robins
16 January 2007
The club now have big plans for next season and have already signed six new players, but Morgan was keen to express his thanks to the squad that has served him well this term.
The Australian, who led the Robins to promotion last year, said: "I'm not going to name them but as a group I would like to thank them for their contribution this year and last year. When they reflect on this season in 10 years' time - it is an achievement they should be proud of."
He added: "We could have easily been expected to turn up and go through the motions. On paper we didn't have a lot to play for.
"But there are a lot here who aren't going to be here next year and they didn't want to go through the motions.
"We have made six or seven signings with another two or three to come. Up to 10 or so are going to have to find work elsewhere."
Despite the defeat, the Giants did enough at Craven Park to cling on to fifth place in the table ahead of Wigan on points difference.
That means a theoretically easier return to Humberside to face Hull in the play-offs next week while Wigan must travel to Bradford.
It was not ideal play-off preparation for the Giants but coach Jon Sharp is confident the story will be different next week.
Sharp said: "We will enjoy going to Hull and we thoroughly intend to enjoy the next couple of weeks and being in the play-offs for the first time. I know we will need to be better than we were here and we will."
