Morley ready for heat of battle

England hardman Adrian Morley has promised to "fight fire with fire" in Sunday's World Cup showdown with Australia at the Telstra Dome.

Kangaroos coach Ricky Stuart, who coached Warrington captain Morley at NRL club the Sydney Roosters, has predicted a "confrontational-style" Test, with the former Leeds second-rower leading the way.

"It's just Ricky. I think he's trying to stir up a bit of trouble, as he does," said Morley. "It's every forward's job to fight fire with fire, so I'll just be playing my normal game."

He added: "I think our forward pack has been a match for the Kiwis and the Aussies over the last few years and, to stand a chance of winning, we need to stand up and be counted. We'll play to our strengths."

Former St Helens coach Ian Millward has told the Australian media that he expects Morley to start, despite being named as a substitute, with captain Jamie Peacock switching to the second row and Gareth Hock dropping to the bench.

Morley began on the bench in England's opening 32-22 win over Papua New Guinea, but coach Tony Smith admits he may change his starting line-up before kick-off on Sunday.

"We could toy around with it," said Smith. "There's a couple of things we're thinking about.

"I wasn't sure whether we'd start with Mozza or Hock last time and I'm not sure again. There are another couple of positions that we're thinking about tinkering with.

"It may depend a little bit on which team Australia put out."
