Mourinho glad to be out of spotlight

Jose Mourinho has admitted he is happy to step out of the spotlight after Manchester United's mammoth summer outlay.

Chelsea have taken a cautious approach to the transfer market this close season after only signing France winger Florent Malouda, while United have spent lavishly on the likes of Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson, with Carlos Tevez set to follow.

He said: "Manchester United's spending is something that we don't control, we don't want to control -- we don't comment, we don't want to comment."

He added: "But we know that in the previous three seasons when we spent some millions, everybody pointed at us as the team with more responsibility to win because we were the spenders in the market.

"That's not the case this season. The only player we've bought was Malouda. We are very happy with that."
