Mowbray backs Hughes to come good

Bottom-placed Albion ensured City also remain in the relegation zone of the Barclays Premier League going into Christmas after gaining a 2-1 win at The Hawthorns - their first victory in 11 games.
City have now picked up only five points from the last nine games but Mowbray is confident Hughes will be able to retrieve the situation, saying: "I think Manchester City are potentially going to have a few hundred million pounds to spend in January and we've got to find a few loans."
He added: "I think I am pretty confident in saying Manchester City won't be around the bottom half of the table come the end of the season, although we are delighted to beat them and get the points.
"I think I am right in saying that Mark Hughes has only bought one player. Managers have got to mould teams and have a balance they are happy with.
"He'll know what shape and system he wants to play and, if you haven't got the players to fit into it, sometimes you are always playing around the edges and hoping you get a result.
"I am pretty sure when he gets the money to spend and he brings the quality in that he wants to, they will be fine. Quality players win matches. We have felt it most weeks."
Hughes has been given assurances by club owner Sheikh Mansour and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak that he will be at the helm to embark on a January spending spree.
The former Wales boss said: "There has been speculation about my future since the new owners came in, so it is not something that is new to me.
"Am I confident I will be given the money myself to spend? That is the intention. That is my view and I've had assurances from Sheikh Mansour and the chairman."
