Moyes calm over contract
25 January 2008
Moyes has so far failed to sign a new player since last season, and has expressed his disappointment at the lack of transfer activity but he insists the contract is not an issue.
"I'm fine. There is a contract there, I've spoken to the chairman and when we get around to doing it, it is available to do," he said.
The Goodison Park boss will spend the last week of the transfer window desperately trying to bolster an Everton squad which is painfully short of numbers.
He plans to look at several loan deals before the transfer window closes next Monday, expressing the view that he needs "six or seven" new players.
Portuguese midfielder Tiago has already refused a loan move from Juventus, while winger Albert Riera is holding out for a move to Liverpool despite the Toffees meeting the £12million asking price from Espanyol.
Everton have Tim Cahill, Steven Pienaar and Tony Hibbert still some way short of fitness after injuries, although Victor Anichebe will be back in the fold this week after winning a silver medal at the Olympics with Nigeria.
Since last summer Thomas Gravesen, Andrew Johnson, Stefan Wessels, Manuel Fernandes, Anthony Gardner, Lee Carsley, Jamie Jones and Darren Dennehy have all left the Everton pay-roll without being replaced.
