Muggleton to join Scarlets

Llanelli Scarlets have recruited John Muggleton - one of the world's top rugby union defence coaches.

Muggleton, part of Australia's coaching staff when the Wallabies were crowned world champions in 1999, will join Llanelli on a two-year contract from July 1.

He will work with new Scarlets head coach Nigel Davies, while Llanelli have also recruited Brad Harrington as fitness coach from Super 14 finalists New South Wales Waratahs.

Former Wales international forward Paul Moriarty, meanwhile, stays in his role of forwards coach, although Robert Jones (backs) and Wayne Proctor (fitness) will leave the Scarlets by mutual consent.

Sydney-born Muggleton spent 10 years with the Wallabies, a spell that included World Cup glory and a Test series victory over the British and Irish Lions.

Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallacher said: "I am delighted with this superb team which will help propel us into an exciting new era.

"John and Brad bring great vision, knowledge and skill, and we've been very impressed with Paul in his time here."

Muggleton added: "The Llanelli Scarlets are one of world rugby's big names, and I look forward with great anticipation to helping them achieve their ambitious future goals."
