Murray and Kerr miss final

Jamie Murray and Jordan Kerr had no answer to the serving power of fourth seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski as they crashed out of the Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven at the semi-final stage.

Murray and his partner went down 6-2 6-3 as Fyrstenberg and Matkowski - who did not face a break point in the match and lost only five points on serve - dominated from the start.

Murray said: "They served well and backed it up at the net."

He added: "They both served big and got in a lot of first serves. On our serves, they got a lot of returns. It was a tough match. That is the way it goes sometimes.

"It was not the best. We were pretty flat to be honest and that was the most frustrating thing because we never really gave ourselves a shot to even challenge for the match."

Murray was bidding for his first final since he teamed with Eric Butorac to win the Nottingham title in June.

Butorac and Murray won three ATP titles in 2007 but have played with different partners in New Haven. Butorac and partner Ashley Fisher also reached the last four.

Murray and Butorac will now be reunited for the US Open.

"It will be my first time at the Open so that will be good and we might even be seeded," Murray said.
