Murray falters to defeat

Andy Murray failed to capitalise on a fine start as he crashed 0-6 6-2 6-3 to Spain's Tommy Robredo in the final of the Moselle Open in Metz.

Seeking his first title since triumphing in San Jose in February, the 20-year-old British number one could not have wished to begin the match better.

After conceding the first two points on his serve, Murray eventually held and then immediately broke his opponent.

The Scot was returning brilliantly - and in Robredo's next service game, he came back from 40-15 to force deuce and then clinched a double break for 4-0.

Last time the pair met, in Las Vegas last year, Barcelona-based Robredo won 6-2 6-2 at a canter.

But Murray simply blew the world number nine off the court in the first set to claim it to love in less than 23 minutes following a third break.

The drubbing spurred Robredo into life, however - and he claimed Murray's serve to love in the first game of the second set.

Murray was struggling badly with a first serve percentage of just 37% at one point in the second, and Robredo broke again before serving out to take the set 6-2.

The Spaniard carried his momentum into the decider and immediately broke his fading opponent, before doing so again in the final game to seal the match.
