Murray gets bye

Andy Murray has been handed a bye in the first round of the Pacific Life Open at Indian Wells.

The British number one, seeded 11th for the competition, will not be required to play until the second round, where he will come up against the winner of Marat Safin's match against Jurgen Malzer.

The 20-year-old Scot is in the same quarter of the draw as world number one Roger Federer, the man he beat when they met in the first round of last week's Dubai Championships and could face the Swiss in the last eight if both men get that far.
