Murray happy to be back in action

World number 14 Andy Murray was relieved to have finally made a return from injury after marking his first match since mid-May with a comfortable 6-4 6-4 win over Robby Ginepri at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

The 20-year-old produced a serve and volley game which his American opponent - although competitive - could not live with and Murray completed the formalities in less than 90 minutes.

"It was good. I missed being on the match court - in practice you can't give 100%," Murray said. "I'm pretty happy with the way it went, I served really well. I felt really relaxed, I didn't feel like any pressure was on me."

He added: "I was just looking forward to going out and putting it in a match.

"I feel I volley so much better now than before I got injured because I've done so much of it in practice."

The Dunblane player meets Italian qualifier Fabio Fognini in the second round and he moved to allay concerns over any recurrence of the injury.

He told Sky Sports Xtra: "I didn't have any pain but it's such a bad injury and such a tough place that it takes time to build on confidence and the strength.

"It's just the forehand I've been having to hold a little back on but hopefully that will get better with each match."
