The 21-year-old Scot's mauling at the hands of Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon quarter-final demonstrated the improvement he must make if he is to join the elite club at the tennis summit and Murray has now turned his attention to preparing for next month's US Open.
Murray, who will be back in the top 10 next week, said: "I think I've got a chance of winning Wimbledon, but the US Open has always been the one that I felt was best suited to my game."
He added: "I do feel more comfortable playing on the American hard courts. It's still my favourite surface to play on. I've had some of my best results on those courts."
