Murray hopeful of Boodles try-out

Andy Murray could be fit to play in next week's Boodles Challenge exhibition event ahead of Wimbledon, according to his coach Brad Gilbert.

The Scot, who is up to a career-high nine in the latest world rankings, has been out with a wrist injury but Gilbert remains optimistic.

He told BBC Sport: "Andy is getting a lot better. Hopefully he's going to be playing Boodles next week and Wimbledon's around the corner."

He added: "Right now he's getting better every day and we keep our fingers crossed."

The American, however, insisted that the British number one would not risk his long-term fitness by rushing back.

"He won't play unless he's 100% - if that's the case then you'll see him," said Gilbert.

"Andy plays so well on this surface, and so few guys play well on this surface - if he's right then it's right for him to be out there."

Murray has risen to a career-high of nine in the world rankings despite being sidelined.

The 20-year-old Scot sustained the injury last month, forcing him out of the French Open and this week's Artois Championships at Queen's Club.
