Murray out of Davis Cup tie

World number 12 Andy Murray has withdrawn from the Great Britain team for next week's Davis Cup tie in Argentina due to a knee injury.

The British number one, who dropped out of the world's top 10 earlier this week following his first-round exit from the Australian Open, announced on his website that he had pulled out following a recurring strain on his right knee.

The 20-year-old suffered a number of injuries last year which disrupted his season and he wants to prevent any recurrence.

He told his website, andymurray.com: "Following the intensive off-season training, my right knee, which has a bipartite patella, started to act up again when I returned from Australia.

"We had a scan done this week and following discussions with my team, we have decided that it is better not to play in the Davis Cup tie against Argentina."
