Murray returns to top 10

Andy Murray has climbed back into the top 10 in the new world rankings released on Monday morning.

The British number one has moved up from 11th to ninth after reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon - his best performance in a grand slam.

Murray had no ranking points to defend from this time last year, when he missed almost three months of the season with a wrist injury.

There was also good news for Anne Keothavong, whose first-round Wimbledon victory has seen her climb to a career-high 82nd in the world.

Elena Baltacha, who also reached the second round, has jumped 11 spots to 133rd in the world, becoming the new British number two.

Wimbledon qualifier Chris Eaton, the lowest ranked male in the tournament at 661, is now the British men's number seven after soaring to 405th in the world.

Eaton hit the headlines with his first-round victory over Boris Pashanski at the All England Club.

Rafael Nadal's epic men's final victory over Roger Federer has seen him close the gap on the world number one to 545 points.
