Murray slips out of top 10

Andy Murray has dropped out of the world's top 10 after his disappointing performance at the Australian Open.

The British number one, 20, began the season in fine form with victory at the Qatar Open but crashed out in the first round at Melbourne Park.

As a result, the Scot has dropped from ninth to 12th in the latest ATP rankings.

Serbia's Novak Djokovic, who won the men's singles crown, remains third behind number one Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who defeated Murray in the opening round, has risen 20 places to 18th.

Women's champion Maria Sharapova stays fifth in the rankings, three places behind beaten finalist Ana Ivanovic.

Justine Henin is still the top-ranked woman despite losing to Sharapova in the quarter-finals.
