The Scot has been troubled by the problem since the Cincinnati Masters last month and played through the pain in Great Britain's Davis Cup defeat by Poland at the weekend. He admitted then he would need to take some time off to let the injury heal.
A right wrist injury in 2007 ruled the 22-year-old out for three months, and on Monday he saw the same specialist that had looked after him then. A spokesman for his agents 19 Entertainment said a scan showed "no long-term damage".
Murray has a relatively busy schedule for the rest of the season, with the Japan Open followed by the Shanghai Masters, Valencia Open and Paris Masters before the ATP World Tour Finals in London at the end of November.
The world number three will now concentrate on fitness work before making a decision next week on whether to travel to Asia.
