Myhill: Team talk will help Tigers

Brown captured headlines for delivering a half-time rollicking to his players on the pitch after conceding four goals at Manchester City last Friday.

"Players will react differently to different situations but it has given us renewed impetus to put on a good performance in front of our home fans," said goalkeeper Boaz Myhill. "It is up to the manager to manage his players how he feels best. It's up to the players to take that on board and produce a good performance."

He added: "We are all disappointed, nobody goes on the pitch to do that purposefully. Obviously it is up to us to pick up the pieces."

They looked more composed in the second half but they still clawed only a modicum of respectability back as they ultimately went down to a 5-1 defeat.

It is perhaps only at the KC Stadium on Tuesday evening, as the Tigers return to Barclays Premier League action against Aston Villa, that the true worth of Brown's words will become evident.

Brown himself has no regrets and has stressed the importance of a good performance against Villa to prevent his side's slump in form becoming serious.

After a bright start to the campaign, the Tigers have won just one of their last 10 and conceded nine goals in their last two outings.

He said: "Why not conduct a team-talk on the pitch? Why not conduct it in front of everyone instead of the confines of the changing room?

"It happens every weekend in lower leagues. I thought it was the right thing to do at that time. We are a very fortunate group of people that are paid a lot of money. We will all hold our hands up but we can't allow that to come back to the table ever again."
