Nadal to face Djokovic in final

Rafael Nadal is on the verge of winning his first grass-court title after an impressive victory over defending champion Andy Roddick in the semi-finals of the Artois Championships.

Roddick had triumphed at Queen's in four of the last five years and was seeking a record fifth title, but was no match for the French Open champion on centre court.

One break of serve in each set was enough to give Nadal a 7-5 6-4 victory in 87 minutes, and the top seed will face Novak Djokovic in Sunday's final after he overcame David Nalbandian 6-1 6-0.

"It was a very important match for me against the best player at Queen's, a four-time winner and defending champion," said Nadal, who won his fourth French Open title in a row at Roland Garros just six days ago.

"I'm very happy to be in the final, it's very important for me to start the grass-court season like this and to beat a specialist like Andy."

Djokovic was delighted with his demolition of former Wimbledon runner-up Nalbandian, who looked completely out of sorts.

"I don't know who was on the court," Djokovic said. "I did everything even more than perfect. David is a great player on grass but he was serving pretty weak and I used my momentum."

Looking ahead to the final against Nadal, the 21-year-old added: "I played him once before on grass, in the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year when I had to stop in the third set due to injury, but this year I feel much better and stronger and I am playing with a lot of confidence."

Late in the day, Britain's Jamie Murray narrowly failed to reach the doubles final when he and partner Max Mirnyi lost to Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa.

Melo and Sa took the opening set 6-3 but Murray and Mirnyi took the second on a tie-break before the Brazilian pair took the Champions tie-break 10-6.
