Nanyn handed Quins chance
19 January 2008
The 26-year-old has exercised an opt-out clause in his contract with the National League Two club to sign a one-year deal with Harlequins.
"Mick has wanted to play in Super League for a number of years and now he has the opportunity," said Oldham chief executive Chris Hamilton. "We wish him well."
Nanyn has played for Swinton, Rochdale, Whitehaven and Widnes, smashing the points record at each club, and has appeared in four National League Grand Finals.
"I've been in the National Leagues for a while now and have been waiting for the chance at Super League," said Nanyn, who has scored 346 points so far this season.
"This is a great opportunity and I can't wait to get started.
"Moving down to London is a challenge and as well as playing in Super League, it's something I'm looking forward to experiencing."
Harlequins coach Brian McDermott added: "Mick has backed himself to come to London and have a crack at getting a place in our team.
"I respect his desire and with hard work and determination he may just do that."
Nanyn has been named in Scotland's preliminary 40-man squad for the World Cup.
